Red with rust spots on the outside, and a metalic lustre on the inside. It is difficult to inspect the inside thoroughly. I know that plastic would be better, but it would cost £50 to replace both tanks, and I would hate to throw them away if they have years of life in them. I am tempted to simply add an in-line fuel filter and hope for the best.! Should the tanks be scrapped or cherished? Comments and advise please. Long before a time recycling was a major industrial activity carried out under different names: in metals recycling it was the scrap trade (An aluminum can that is thrown away will still be a can 500 years from now!); in paper the waste paper trade in two branches—newsprint gathered by volunteers and cardboard gathered from offices and warehouses (To produce each week’s Sunday newspapers, 500,000 trees must be cut down) ; there was also a trade in broken glass(A modern glass bottle would take 4000 years or more to decompose — and even longer if it’s in the landfill); in rags(Plastic bags and other plastic garbage thrown into the ocean kill as many as 1,000,000 sea creatures every year); and in waste oil(Motor oil never wears out, it just gets dirty. Oil can be recycled, re-refined and used again). Certain forms of recycling, however, are relatively new. They include reprocessing of auto tires into rubber, synthetic fuels, or paving materials; the recovery of lead from batteries; plastics recycling; and relatively experimental methods of converting organic wastes to fuel (“bio diesel”).

There is some debate over whether recycling is economically efficient. The amount of money actually saved through recycling depends on the efficiency of the recycling program used to do it. Cost-benefit analysis is a tool of decision making for this type of situation. The United States Environmental Protection Agency has concluded in favor of recycling, saying that recycling efforts reduced the country’s carbon emissions by a net 49 million metric tones in 2005. Major recycling businesses founded on family values and are totally committed to the earth and the global concerns over our non-renewable resources and raw materials. They collect, process and transport thousands of tons of recyclable materials every year. This dedication to recycling and renewal keeps this material out of the overburdened landfills of the Northeastern United States and ensures that it can be reused in the manufacture of new products and finished goods. There are some recognized leaders in creative and innovative recycling throughout Western New York with its focus on complete customer satisfaction. The world is becoming increasingly more aware of the impact that business and business waste has on the environment, along with pressure from global and local governments to reduce each businesses carbon foot print. Certain requirements must be met for recycling to be economically feasible and environmentally effective. Many economists favor a moderate level of government intervention to provide recycling services. Economists of this mindset probably view product disposal as an externality of production and subsequently argue government is most capable of alleviating such a dilemma.

Recycling rates appear to have increased since the beginning of the recycling movement, but dependable numbers are not available. The reason for this is that waste generation by type of content is not consistently determined. In some developed and many less developed countries in the world, the conventional job of recycling is performed by the entrepreneurial poor. Many studies have addressed recycling behavior and strategies to encourage community involvement in recycling programs. Individual-based recycling does not cover all of society’s recycling needs so there is a need for an organized recycling program. As distinct from commercial recycling, industrial recycling is strongly supported by economic motives and is hence both routine and well-managed. Recycling has always required financial assistance because scrap prices do not cover the expensive separation of wastes by hand or machine. At the same time, disposal of wastes, whether by the somewhat costly method of burning or the lower-cost use of burial in landfills, is less expensive than waste separation with a portion recycled and a larger portion disposed of—even when scrap revenues were considered too. Recycling business has been essentially funded by the public sector and by the population’s contribution of labor in separating wastes.

Even when collection, separation, and concentration costs for material components are subsidized, economic conditions cause demand for waste-derived commodities to cycle up and down. This has led to programs to increase the “recycled content” of goods produced. Companies advertise high recycled content as a way of stir up environmentally aware consumers to select their products. Where technically feasible, and the waste markets sold for a lower prices than “virgin” raw materials, producers also obtained a cost benefit. It has been realized that recycling behavior is not natural because it needs a focus and high regard for long term planning, whereas humans have evolved to be sensitive to short term objective goals; and that to overcome this natural tendency, the best solution would be to use social pressure to compel participation in recycling programs. However, recent studies have concluded that social pressure is unviable in this situation. The sum of money actually saved through recycling based on the efficiency of the recycling program used to do it. The “argues” that the cost of recycling depends on various factors around a community that recycles, such as the amount of disposal that the community recycles. It states that communities start to save money when they treat recycling as a substitution for their traditional waste system rather than an add-on to it and by revised their collection schedules and/or tools.

im wonder how much Pennsylvania minimumly pays for Scrapped metal, copper, aluminum, plastic , and Car Salvaging all in general? how much per pound, also like how much if i did 50tons of metal , 30 pounds in plastic and 15 in copper? i have that much and i have TONS of old busted up cars i want to salvage usually they pay 400 per Truck and 200 for cars

i live in the 18466 region of PA ? my google chrome is being mental but i need to do this ASAP

Question by Recycle M: I am a metal scrap trader like to know the following information?
Recently, someone ask me to buy used aircraft engine. I do not know how much to offer because I do not know what type valuable metals, type wires and plastics contains in the used aircraft engine. Is there a website like wikipedia.org in the Internet where I can learn the type of metals and its quantity etc so I can take a calculated risk to purchase such kind of other items as well?

Aircraft engines make use of aluminium and other light metals. As weight as always been a big issue for aircraft, they are years to decades ahead of auto engines.
