Copper scrap is one of the most profitable metals that you could actually recycle available today. This material has been increasing in price from year to year and is certainly one of the best ways you could earn some extra cash. Price of copper scrap has been increasing tremendously as gold has and is now one of the most sought after metals in the world today. Due to this fact, theft of copper scrap has been on the rise lately as electrical cables, engine parts and railway tracks have all been stolen by irresponsible individuals. However, if you’re planning to do recycling of copper legally below are some methods you could do it successfully.

First of all start by collecting and saving the copper sources that you find available around you. Power cords, electrical appliances and also pipelines are some example of items you could get copper out of. Hence, if you have these kinds of items available around the household that you don’t need, collect them in a particular place to sell. Besides that, you could also head down to local garage sales or also pick up items from trash to sell off at local recycling companies.

Next, what you should do once you’ve collected the scrap copper would be to strip away plastic wires or coating that you can find on it. In case of wires, you just have to use a knife and strip the coating out of the wires. Recycling companies do tend to pay a bit more if the coatings are removed.

There are various types of copper available and one should know on how to separate them before actually selling it off. The best type of copper metal would be the ones that are shiny and look new whereas the old, worn down types should be the last group you should sort out. The best looking scrap would be the ones that would earn you the highest income.

Lastly before selling, always research the latest price of copper scrap. You could do this through the internet and also getting the information from the local recycling companies.
