PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene Teflon) has established itself as a tough, durable polymer, possessing a unique combination of electrical, chemical, mechanical and thermal properties unmatched by any other single substance. Maximum operating temperature 350 to 400F (176 to 204C). This material should not be heated to temperatures above 752F (400C).

Product description misleading,
This is advertised and described at 1/4″ PTFE (TEFLON) round rod. This description is completely false. While it is indeed 1/4″ round, and 36″ long it is not rod; rod is generally accepted to describe “ridged.” It is not. it is “soft rod.” Think limp noodle, and you have what this is. It cannot be used in any application for mechanical insulation as for electrical or electronics use. I am an electronics engineer, and I have no idea what this can be used for in any practical application. I am sure it was specified for some application requiring curved and soft conistantcy, and Amazon is selling it as surplus “rod.” Don’t bother buying it.

|Good quality Teflon (PTFE) rod,
I bought this Teflon rod to use for a 3D printer I was building based on the designs in reprap.org. The rod was solid and came in the right specs that were listed. The rod withstood high temperatures and worked as expected.

|It’s a Teflon Rod,
If you need a Teflon rod, this is one. I happened to need one to do some DYI futon repair (making a Teflon slider is much cheaper than buying a replacement wheel mechanism). I bought this, it was the dimensions advertised and it’s been durable enough to help hold my futon together, while still being low friction so I can change the futon between the bed and couch modes.
