I have one plastic tub, and a container for the hatchlings, i use soil and not moss for the nesting ground, i’m planning to only have a few, because i’ll be getting a leopard gecko ( only one ) and my iguana is addicted to crickets so im giving her one or two every month. I hear a thousand should be the starting and it said you will have a thousand hatchlings and a thousand eggs, but I only want a few, I also cant manage a thousand crickets, I’m going for 200 or 300 is this okay? I really need the crickets and crickets are hell scarce. Also many breeders say that its just fine to feed vegetable scraps, some fruit, greens, and oatmeal is this okay am i good to go tips?

Okay, I’ve experienced this before. What you do, is construct a look-alike of an ancient Mayan temple in the plastic container. Then, if you have too many sacrifice one on the temple to the God’s, praying for less. Repeat the process if it reoccurs. It works like a charm.

Wow, I don’t know. I usually just go to Petco every other week and buy 3 dozen crickets for our leopard gecko. I can’t imagine going to the trouble of breeding them but I can see your point. Before the Petco was built here a couple years ago, I don’t know what I would have done.
200 or 300 is fine. However, crickets are way to easily killed for me. That’s why I’m considering strongly switching to lobster roaches. I have heard that they eat scraps. I fed them anything that went bad. Also they need water but a dish will drown them. You should wet a sponge and they will suck that
u cant control there numbers
This has nothing to do w/ your question because I would just go to the pet store and buy crickets if I had too.
Iguanas should NOT eat crickets … they are considered meat protein and iguanas should NOT have any type of meat. Meat is for intended for carnivores not herbivores which iguanas are. I see that it is once or twice a month, but still that is once or twice a month too many.
