Question by Tutti: can’t get copper mold pan clean? after a failed attempt at rum cake, my copper mold pan has this sticky/hard stuff on it. It’s on the silver-colored inside, not sure what metal it is. Of course I can’t put this in the dishwasher, so I haven’t done that. I have tried to hand wash it, soak it and scrub, soak it and scrap with plastic spatula. All have gotten very little off. I’ve been able to scrap a little off with my nails, but the little I’ve scraped off, leaves a residue that can’t be removed. Don’t really know what it is that is stuck on it. Question by LeeH: Need help starting a compost? I started composting a few weeks ago in a large plastic container. I researched and I know what I can and cannot put into the compost. It’s been fruit/veg scraps, coffee grounds, a few egg shells, some trimmings from my yard and grass cuttings so far. I’m in AZ. It’s very hot and dry (around 100 degrees F). My compost seems dry and doesn’t really look like its decomposing nicely (but it doesn’t stink and it is shrinking). *I’m wondering if the grass clippings are too dry (our burmuda grass is very coarse/rough here). Not only do I want compost for my garden, I also want to try to eliminate as much household waste as possible. I obviously know things like plastic and metal can not break down and should not be put into the compost.
